CONSULTS

At SES we are moulding the next generation of business leaders, but they are also the brilliant minds of right now.
Capturing the zeitgeist is notoriously difficult.
Businesses who are able to take their lead from real world insight are likely to be the stronger players in any marketplace.
Getting to know the next generation of consumers, their behaviours, preferences and aspirations is key for future proofing your position as new organisational landscapes unfold.
Cutting Edge Thinking

Our business school students are required to complete a major project. Students are given real world business challenges to solve. We take ‘live’ briefs and ask our students to conduct organised research in peer groups, to deliver real world solutions.
This is where the ‘in business consults’ concept begins - with local, regional and global business input we are able guide our students into the world of work with a clear view of what is required of them to be in business with our client/partners whilst still at university.

Project Timelines
For the duration of this part of the unit (the planning stage) we hard wire the kind of knowledge, skills and behaviour required to deliver a consultancy project, using the first six weeks to set practical challenges to accustom students to the mind set of a research consultant in a global context. From week five, students work directly with our business partners on their project briefs to establish research objectives and agree outcomes of the project in term of its design and methodology. On completion of this semester the student groups produce a professional report and presentation for the client which outlines the basis of the active research to be undertaken in the following semester.

Semester One 2024 Sept - Dec

Project Timelines
Students use research methods (agreed in the first semester’s report) to understand the macro factors affecting your business - using second party desk-based research to develop their understanding of the wider picture. This helps students and businesses to refine the design of their research project and underpin work with the current reality of global, national and regional business trends affecting their sector. Students are able to offer first party research to answer specific research questions by building surveys or questionnaires (informed by their review of extant literature and published research) designed to gather data.

Semester Two 2024 Jan - May

Final Report & Presentation
We provide your organisation with important insight into your customer base or future strategic direction. Our consultancy students are also able to conduct online and sometime in person focus groups where a selection of willing respondents is asked to offer their even more nuanced ideas and opinions related to the research project objectives. At the end of this final unit, students will present their conclusions to you and your business colleagues, either in person or online, followed up with a professional report summarising their findings.
